QUEEN B as we call her is a recent addition to us courtesy of Broken S Ranch (link). She is a full flush sister to 1BA S10 Helen who is currently waiting for her 2 offspring to be inspected to be enobled.

We cant wait to see what "Queen B" and Crave will produce this fall!

Mary

Mary is one of our first does that we purchased and although she took awhile before she ever discovered her role as a breeder (she wanted nothing to do with those silly boys!) it was well worth the wait as her first baby ended up having a .71 average daily gain. Mary was bred back the same way and gave us a lovely doeling in Feb 09 who we are keeping to breed along with her mother.

Mika is another new addition, she is 90% SA and I cant wait to see what kinds of kids she'll make with Crave

4M Mugsy's Gauger 7092

4M Mugsy's Gauger 7092: With 10 enoblements in her pedigree we didn't have room to list them all! Double bred Ryals TopBrass, RRD Brass shot S916, and EGGS Ryals Magnum just to name a few. This doe is skipping the show ring and going right to the breeding pen. With such awesome length, hip and gorgeous pencil neck, she should be mother of the year at our farm before too long. Her first babies should be here around September 09 as she was Crave's Easter present!

SDT Liberty Bell

SDT Liberty Bell - An AK-47 daughter that I somehow lucked out on picking up.  I got 14 additional points on her two weeks after buying her.  I am really looking forward to doing a flush on her in the near future.

What is a Boer Goat?

The Boer goat was developed in South Africa in the early 1900s for meat production. Their name is derived from the Dutch word "Boer" meaning farmer. The Boer goat was probably bred from the indigenous goats of the Namaqua Bushmen and the Fooku tribes, with some crossing of Indian and European bloodlines being possible. They were selected for meat rather than milk production; due to selective breeding and improvement, the Boer goat has a fast growth rate and excellent carcass qualities, making it one of the most popular breeds of meat goat in the world. Boer goats have a high resistance to disease and adapt well to hot, dry semi-deserts. U.S. production is centered in west-central Texas, particularly in and around San Angelo. The original US breeding stock came from herds located in New Zealand. Only later were they imported directly from South Africa.

Boer goats commonly have white bodies and distinctive brown heads. Like the Nubian goat, they possess long, pendulous ears. They are noted for being docile, fast growing, and having high fertility rates. Does are reported to have superior mothering skills as compared to other goats. Mature Boer bucks weigh between 110-135 kg (240-300 lb), and mature does between 90-100 kg (200-220 lb).
